… her role models as a kid:
“As a young girl I looked up to Steffi Graf and Martina Hingis. I wanted to be just like them. Now I’m the world No.1 and it’s an amazing feeling.”

… her love of sports:
“I come from a family of sports lovers. It rubs off. There’s no way I can sit still for two hours. I always have to be doing something. Tennis is and was naturally my main sport but I also played football when I was a young girl. I just love all kinds of sports. And I love the competi-tion”

… on waking up early:
“I’m not a morning person. It’s a problem in my job. I get up at 6:15 so I can go jogging at eight. And then at 10 o’clock I’m in the hall practising. It’s not really my thing but when your focus is on tennis then that’s the way it has to be.”

… her appearance at the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix:
“I just love to drive fast cars and there’s one to win here. We can see it when we go on court. It’s a great motivator.”
