“I’m a perfectionist. I’d be only satisfied if I won every all my season’s matches. That’s obvi-ously not on. But I nevertheless try to keep on improving.”
… life off-court:
“I go to a school for diplomats in Moscow. And it’s just like in tennis – I’m only happy when I get the best grades. I should have had my exams in spring but I’ve put them off to September because of the French Open.”
… about Moscow:
“I love living in my home city. Many people there helped me a lot at the start of my career. Now I’d like to give them something back and I don’t want to move abroad. It’s why I also like to play Fed Cup for my country.”
… on the number one, Caroline Wozniacki:
“She really is a great player. But I’m working really hard so that I can perhaps stand there where she is.”
