“The battery was empty”
Stuttgart. . The sensation was in the air: Andrea Petkovic was 4-1 and 40-0 up in her quarterfinal against Caroline Wozniacki in front of a sell-out crowd in the Porsche Arena. But then the battery was empty and the world No. 1 from Denmark won 10 games in a row to run out a 6-4, 6-1 winner. After the defeat Andrea Petkovic spoke in the post match press conference about…
… her match against the number 1:
“Against Caroline you have to be able to run for three hours. She kept hitting the ball out wide and played really well after I went 4-1 up. I’ve got the game to beat her and I proved it in Miami. But I was simply too exhausted to resist. But when I’m full of energy then I’ll do well. I’ve had a good year up to now, but I can get even better.”
… the new German women’s tennis:
“I’ve been saying for a long while now that I’ve got the ability to spark a development in the game here. But not alone, the other girls also have to do their bit. Everything went excellently for us this week.
… the week in Stuttgart:
“I really enjoyed it all, the atmosphere at the tournament, the support of the fantastic crowd – it doesn’t get much better.”
… die Woche in Stuttgart.
„Ich habe das alles sehr genossen, die Atmosphäre beim Turnier, die Unterstützung durch das fantastische Publikum – viel besser geht es nicht.“
