By supporting up-and-coming youngsters in the Porsche Talent Team since 2012, Porsche has transferred its successful juniors programme in motorsport to tennis. In close collaboration with the Deutscher Tennis Bund (DTB – German Tennis Association), the primary intention of the support is to make the set-up for talented juniors more professional by enhancing individual coaching and guidance both when practicing and at tournaments. In the 2021 season, Eva Lys, Katharina Gerlach, Jule Niemeier, Nastasja Schunk, Joelle Steur and Alexandra Vecic will be supported in the Porsche Talent Team. All six will be looking to catch the eye and move on to greater things by performing at a consistently high level. In contrast to the girls from the Porsche Junior Team, who are still at school, they can already fully focus on their tennis career," says Barbara Rittner, Head of Women's Tennis.
In the Porsche Junior Team, talented players such as Mara Guth, Caroline Kuhl, Tea Lukic, Mia Mack, Julia Middendorf, Sarah Müller, Noma Noha Akugue, Laura Isabel Putz, Nicole Rivkin, and Ella Seidel are being promoted who currently still have to master the balancing act between competitive sport and school education. "The aim is to provide these players with the best possible individual support despite their school commitments, so that they have a professional environment at home," explains the national coach.
“For us, it is important to not only support Porsche Team Germany in the Fed Cup,” says Oliver Blume, Chairman of the Executive Board of Porsche AG. “We also want to help promising juniors develop and accompany them on their way to the top.”
Since 2012, Porsche has been supporting the German national team in the Fed Cup as well as the junior teams, thus enabling individual support both in training and at tournaments. As an official partner of the two women's bases in Stuttgart-Stammheim and Kamen, Porsche also makes its contribution to offering the young female players best possible conditions for their sporting and personal development at their respective training facilities.
