Crème de la Crème
“We’re delighted we can again present our audience at the 40th Porsche Tennis Grand Prix with a top world class field,” said Tournament Director Markus Günthardt. In addition to the tennis highlights in the Porsche-Arena, also awaiting the spectators and players is an international show where we will take a look back at the past 40 years and celebrate our anniversary in keeping with the occasion.”
One of the many renowned anniversary guests in the Porsche Arena will be Tracy Austin. A 15-year old teenager at the time, the American with pony tails and dental braces became the crowd favourite at the first Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in Filderstadt in 1978 – and the much-celebrated first winner. Up until 1981, she notched up four wins in a row at the tournament to which even then her fellow players always loved to return year after year. The WTA Tour players also voted the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix as their favourite tournament worldwide in its category in 2016 – for the eighth time since 2007.
